1. 本ゼミの目的
本ゼミは、㋑普段とくに気に留めることもないような身の回りあることへ着目、気付きから知的興奮へ、㋺ニュースなどでもよく出てくる生命科学用語・技術の理解、㋩それらを科学的に思考し批判することを主たる目的とした講義シリーズ、垂直／水平展開しながら進んでいく。
具体的には、身近な生命科学に関する事柄・現象・時事ニュースを題材／起点とし、㊁実体験・実験、㋭講義、㋬課題発見・解決、㋣特別ゲスト講義、㋠グループ作業および発表、にセメスターを通じ取り組む。この授業は駒場の自然科学サロン、気軽に楽しむ、教員と仲間とお話をする、こういう気持ちで取り組んでほしい。
この取り組みは、自然科学という分類が与えられた学問領域での普遍性・独創性への探求、その醍醐味の紹介を第一の目的とするが、同時に、工学、人文科学、芸術、音楽、歴史、文化、数理科学、時事ニュースなど、異なる領域をも恐れずに“自由に飛び回る”、そういった気風、“駒場らしい”教養教育の追求、環境／授業／教材開発を目指す。この授業を通じて、“自由に飛び回る” 練習、その面白さを体験してみたい学生さんにぜひ参加してほしい。
これらの試験的な試み、特別な体験を通じた “考えるトレーニング” の機会を提供すること、ピュアな自然科学の楽しみ、加えて、履修者のみなさんが世界が多様であることを受容し、様々な視点・観点でアイデンティティーを確認・確立する良いキッカケにもなること期待して2021年度から開講している。2023年度で3シーズン目。
2. ガイダンス
初回の授業日、4月6日（木）3時限目（13:00～14:45）にオンライン（Zoom）形式のみで実施します。Zoom URLは、UTASを確認してください。本授業の履修を検討している学生さんはぜひご参加ください。教室でガイダンスを対面形式で受けたい学生さんは、下記の問い合わせ先から担当教員へ連絡してください。
ガイダンスでは、シラバスやWebに記載していない授業情報、成績評価、履修可能者の抽選、スケジュール、グループワークなどを説明します。ガイダンス冒頭では、履修希望者のみなさんへ簡単な質問コーナーを予定しています。
ガイダンスを欠席、かつ、本ゼミの履修を検討している学生さんは、なるべく速やかにその旨を下記の問い合わせ先から担当教員へ連絡してください。抽選を行う場合に履修希望者を把握する必要があるからです。

② 抽選終了後、履修者を本授業のGoogle Classroomへ招待します。授業の具体的な連絡、授業資料・課題の配布等などはGoogle Classroomを利用します。

0. For students who are considering taking this course
This course is designed to (1) focus on things around us that we do not usually pay attention to in daily life, (2) shift from awareness to intellectual excitement, (3) understand life science terms and techniques such as DNA and PCR that often appear in the news. The lectures progress vertically and horizontally, with the primary objective of scientific thinking and criticism.
Specifically, the course will take life science matters, phenomena, and current news as its starting point and proceed through ㊁ experience via works and experiments, ㋭ lectures, ㋬ problem-finding and solving, ㋣ and special guest lectures on the latest developments in the field of life science. ㋠ In addition, participants will do group work and presentations. This seminar is a “Salon” in Komaba, and we hope you will enjoy it and talk casually with the faculty and your fellow participants.
The primary objective of this course is
- to explore the universality and originality of natural sciences, a discipline that has been given a classification
Still, at the same time, we encourage participants to “jump around freely” without fear in fields such as engineering, humanities, arts, music, history, culture, mathematical sciences, and current news that crosses traditional boundaries. We aim to pursue a “Komaba style” liberal arts education and develop an environment/classroom/teaching material. We hope students who want to experience the fun of “free-flying” practice through this seminar will join us.
In addition, we hope that participants will accept that the world is diverse and confirm our identities from various viewpoints and perspectives. Finally, we will experience the fun of “thinking training” through this experimental trial, unique experience, and pure natural science.
2. Guidance
The first class day, Thursday, April 6, 3rd period (14:55-16:40), will be in online (Zoom) format; please check ITC-MLS for the Zoom URL. Students who are considering taking this class are encouraged to attend. Students who wish to take guidance in a face-to-face format in the classroom should contact the instructor using the contact information below. At the guidance, we will explain class information not listed in the syllabus or on the web, grading, lottery for available students, schedule, group work, etc. At the beginning of the guidance, there will be a brief Q&A session for prospective students. Students who are absent from the guidance and considering enrolling in this seminar are requested to contact the faculty member in charge of the course as soon as possible using the contact information below. We need to know who is interested in taking the seminar to conduct a selection.

1) Until the number of students who can register for the class is confirmed (until the selection process is completed), the latest information will be sent to NNNN as needed.
